May 2001 Rural Medical Education Conference

Work Groups Proposed for RME Conference

Questions in Rural Medical Education

I would advise those planning to come down to Dallas to the RME meeting to come on May 21 if you can. Here is what the timing will be like

May 21 - special session for giving and receiving info on RME, starting at 2 PM, group meeting, planning, dinner later together - this will be a special learning opportunity to discuss your program and learn about other programs.

May 22 and 23 - official RME Conference - a working conference with issues, questions, discussions, priorities set, work plans developed - there will be some opportunities to pass out information and discuss your program and learn about what others are doing.

May 23 - 25 - official NRHA annual conference - several RME presentations during this conference, please try to attend the Research and Education Constituency meeting Thursday afternoon, our RME Group is part of this Constituency

May 25 - 9 am presentation from our RME group

Some of us will be meeting in the afternoon of May 21 and evening to do some final planning, networking, and idea exchanges. We will plan a meal together as well. All are welcome and your help would be appreciated. I know this makes it a long week, but the extra time will help the conferences and the movement of rural medical educators. The extra time will help us catch up on what is happening. All of us want to get a chance to talk, but the May 22 and 23 time periods are short and the tasks to complete are large. May 21 will help us in this area.

If you want to give an update of your program or ask questions about your program or issues from rural experts, please contact me so I can make arrangements for May 21. This is your chance to get some expert assistance or consultation, or share your expertise.

From Robyn Henderson - Just wanted to let you know that we have registration fees set for RME conference and we will be working very hard to get the registration piece out by the end of March

Fees:

RME conference only with advance registration (before May 9): $200

RME and NRHA conference (NRHA member) advance: $590 (this is a 25% savings on NRHA conference)

RME and NRHA conference (non-NRHA member) advance: $650 (25% savings on NRHA conference).

Onsite Registrations: RME only $250

no break on NRHA conference fee -- will have to pay full onsite price.

For RME conference, there is not cost differential for NRHA member or nonmember. We just want to get folks there!!!
